Happy New Year from Strong Point Games

As we kick off 2025, we would like to wish all our customers and followers a Happy New Year!

Looking back at 2024, it has been a hectic year, where we have been part of many great events, conventions, and in the last 2-3 months, Christmas markets. We have brought Strong Point to new and existing players, and spread the Strong Point love far and wide!

From AireCon in March, UK Games Expo in June, Tabletop Scotland and the North-East Games Expo in September, through to all of the Christmas events in the North-East, Yorkshire and London, we have had a fabulous year. Thank you to all of the people who spoke to us at any of these events, who bought our game, and who told us how much they love Strong Point, we appreciate you all!

Much of 2024, was spent making sure that Stronger Point was completed and ready for release before the year was out. It was close but we just achieved it! And already we have seen that lots of people who were eager for more categories have grabbed a copy of the first expansion to the game. Again, many thanks!

But 2024 was also the year that we were able to take some of the steps that we have been itching to take in order to enable the growth of Strong Point Games. In July, Si retired from his work in education to devote all of his time to game design, development, and promotion, while in August Gill was able to move to a part-time role in her job. The aim is that with more time to spend working on Strong Point Games' projects, we should hopefully be able to add more content more quickly!

Which brings us to 2025 and the future!

Firstly, the second additional pack for Strong Point is ready to begin manufacture! Just like buses, you get nothing for years, and then 2 come along in the space of a few months! Stronger Point Junior Expansion is due to be sent for manufacture very soon, so if you have youngsters in your family this is an essential add-on to make Strong Point even more accessible for younger players, aged 8-18 years. The Junior Expansion includes 100 categories and questions aimed very much at a younger player, so when you want to play with the kids they can use their own pack of category cards without fear of having to answer questions on Black & White Movies, Serial Killers, or 20th Century Musicals!

We have also done a slight redesign on the look of the original Strong Point, giving it a fresh new style to match the design of the two Expansion Packs. The content will not be changing, so if you have the original design of the game in years to come maybe it will be a collector's item!

In January we will be taking the Strong Point Collection to exhibit at the UK Toys & Games Fair at London Olympia. This will be the first time that we have exhibited at the show and will be our first opportunity to showcase our games to the buyers from all the major toy and games retailers in the country. Wish us luck! Hopefully it will be the first step to getting Strong Point onto the High Street and into all of the retailers who know a good game when they see one!

And finally, 2025 will see the beginning of work on the development of the first brand new project from Strong Point Games. Both Gill & I are keen runners, but Gill is a regular marathon runner, having run the London Marathon several times, the Berlin Marathon in 2023, and in September of 2024, the New York City Marathon. Next year she will be taking part in the Tokyo Marathon in March and the Chicago Marathon in October, all part of her quest to complete all of the six famous Abbott Marathon Majors (Boston is the last one, although Sydney has been added to the list which, knowing Gill, she will almost surely want to add into the mix!) As a result of her passion for running marathons (she is pretty good by the way, she completed Berlin in 3 hours and 17 minutes), for the past year we have been bouncing around ideas for a game centred on running a marathon, and in 2025 we begin work on our new game, 26.2.

Clearly, this is a big departure from the trivia based games we have so far published, so we hope that once we have begun development and start sharing some of the work in progress for 26.2, you will follow our journey, our continuing story, and our progress in what will definitely be a marathon not a sprint towards getting the game published!

But rest assured, while 26.2 will be something of a focus for a few months, we won't be neglecting Strong Point! We have plans for further expansions, and even stand alone special editions of Strong Point, as we will continue to add new and updated content to keep existing Strong Pointers happy!

Happy New Year,

Gill & Si.
